Travel Outfits for every kind of Vacation

Rome travel outfit

I LOVE picking out outfits for the places I travel to! I assure you it’s no easy task and it’s definitely time consuming but in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, “I like my money where I can see it: Hanging in my closet”, and let me add to that ‘traveling the world with me’!

4 TIPS to help you pack:

  1. Start by choosing your base color – I typically prefer black however if I’m traveling to the beach my color palette is typically brighter.
  2. Smart packing means taking all the staples and adding to it… I’m all about comfortable but fabulous outfits that I can mix and match. . . Wearing a dress with flats while exploring the city for a casual day looks then switching to heels and adding jewelry for a luxurious evening look.
  3. I’ve learned to have a plane outfit for the way there and back – it makes life so much easier, I promise, especially if you invest in a comfortable, stylish outfit that has layers. We all know planes, trains, buses, etc. can be freezing cold or bloody hot and there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable while traveling for long periods of time. Be able to shed layers or add them easily.
  4. It’s also important to take pieces that do not need to be steamed/ironed. I hate steaming my clothes, especially on vacation so I try to avoid it at all costs! Try to take pieces that won’t wrinkle and can be folded, rolled, and stuffed into your suitcase.

EXAMPLES of outfits I wore in various cities:

I always try to match my style to the color palette of each city. For example, in Santorini, Greece I wore a BCBG white skirt with blue top to match the buildings and while walking through Versailles a simple dress from Zara that would compliment the interior of the palace and the exterior of the gardens. In the Maldives I wore a fabulous Kimono to match the stunning blue green water and a white dress from Revolve considering it was our Honeymoon. I LOVE tennis skirts and wear them constantly whether it’s while hiking to delicate arch or biking in the mountains of Park City, Utah. I’ve worn this blue dress from Name Droppers a hundred times on vacations because it doesn’t wrinkle and bonus looks great while taking a stroll on the boardwalk in Florida or as a pop of color in the Arizona desert.

I also take into consideration how much walking I’ll be doing as well as activities & events, where I’ll be dining, and of course it all comes down to what I can squeeze into my carry-on (unless I’m road tripping and stuffing my car full, ha)!
